Today’s recommended diamond is going to be the best Round diamond for less than $10,000. Obviously this diamond is going to be a large diamond – well over 1 carat, and it will have to look clean and have good color.

The diamond is this 1.25 carat Round diamond, with H color and VS2 clarity. The diamond is an Excellent cut Round diamond, and it sells for $9,430.

1.25 carat, H-VS2, Excellent cut Round diamond

This diamond is a high quality diamond, with strong sparkle, that is very eye-clean. This is a great diamond. Sometimes I look for a flaw that is hard to detect that makes the diamond a good buy, as you pay less because of the flaw, but the diamond still looks great. This diamond is just a great diamond at a fine price.

Today’s recommended diamond is going to be the best Round diamond for less than a $8,000 budget. The choice is actually not fair, considering the budget. I chose a diamond worth much less than $8,000 for this selection, but it is a great diamond in the $7000 to $8000 range, even though it is closer to the $7000 end. It could very well be that at the end of the range closer to $8k there might be great diamonds, but I like this one as a great buy.

The diamond is this 1.10 carat Round diamond, with I color and VS2 clarity. The diamond is a Very Good cut Round diamond, and it sells for $7,420.

1.10 carat, I-VS2, Very Good cut Round diamond

This is a great quality diamond. It is completely eye-clean, with the VS2 being well rated for diamond clarity. The diamond color is great for an I rated diamond, without the tinging of yellow commonly found in I rated diamonds.

This diamond is a great buy.

Today’s recommended diamond is going to be the best Princess cut diamond, greater than 1 carat, for a budget of $5,000.

The diamond is this 1.02 carat Princess cut diamond, with G color and SI1 clarity. The diamond is a Very Good Princess cut diamond, and it sells for $4,710. The discounted price for paying via bank wire is $4,639.

http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/G-SI1-Very%20Good-Cut-Princess-Diamond-1462450.asp

You can see the actual diamond image magnified using the James Allen Virtual Loupe:

1.02 carat, G-SI1, Very Good cut Princess diamond

and you can see this princess diamond’s GIA certificate:

1.02 carat, G-SI1, Very Good princess cut diamond GIA certificate

As you can see from the GIA certificate of this diamond, what is considered one of the main benefits of Princess cut diamonds is really true and works. That is, one of the things great about Princess cut diamonds is the way the facets cover up a lot of the inclusions of the diamond, making them very difficult to see, especially with the naked eye.

As you can see from the GIA certificate above, this Princess cut diamond has a number of small inclusions, yet looking at the diamond itself, they are virtually invisible, both to the naked eye, and even when magnified under a loupe.

This diamond, appears as much better quality because it looks much cleaner than it actually is. That makes this diamond a great buy. You are paying less because of the “flaws” in the diamond, but you are benefiting from a diamond that appears to be cleaner than it actually is.

Today’s recommended diamond is going to be the best Emerald cut diamond for a budget of $5000.

The diamond is this 1.03 Emerald cut diamond, with G color and VS2 clarity. The diamond is an Excellent cut Emerald diamond, and it sells for $5,070.

http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/G-VS2-Ideal-Cut-Emerald-Diamond-1468523.asp

1.03 carat, G-VS2, Excellent cut Emerald diamond

As you can see, the flaw of the Emerald cut diamond is that the large, open facets leave the internal flaws much more visible than they would be in most other shapes. This diamond has that visible inclusion near the center, which will be noticeable as a speck in real life, but has others on the edges that are not that visible. Besides for that speck, this diamond has a beautiful shape and is otherwise reasonably clean.

Add to that the great diamond color (Emerald diamonds also show color tingeing before other shapes due to the open facets, so we go with a slightly better color rating), and the great price, and this Emerald cut diamond is a great buy.

Today’s recommended diamond will be the best small Princess cut diamond for a maximum budget of $2000

The diamond is this 0.70 carat Princess diamond, with I color and VS2 clarity. The diamond is a Very Good cut Princess diamond, and it sells for $1,890.

http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/I-VS2-Very%20Good-Cut-Princess-Diamond-1475176.asp

0.70 carat, I-VS2, Very Good Princess cut diamond

The Princess cut diamond is less brilliant than what you might be used to with Round cut diamonds. There are other benefits though, such as the way the Princess cut facets cover up many of the internal flaws, as well as the elegance of the cut and the beauty of the style. Of the square cuts, while each has it’s benefits, the Princess cut gives the maximum brilliance over all the others.

This Princess cut diamond has pretty good diamond proportions of depth and table. The length to width ratio is 1.05 which is a great shape for a Princess cut diamond.

If you are looking for a small Princess cut diamond for a nice ring on a small budget, this diamond is perfect for you.

If you want another Princess cut diamond that is practically a nearly perfect match, so they could be used as a set of Princess cut earrings, or in a set of side-stones of a ring with a larger center stone, you should also check out this Princess cut diamond – it is not a perfectly exact match, but it is very very close.

Today’s recommendation is going to be for the best small Princess cut diamond. This diamond selected is less than 1 carat, it weighs in at 0.96 carats so it just barely qualifies.

The diamond is this 0.96 carat Princess diamond, with G color and SI1 clarity. The diamond is an Excellent (Ideal) cut Princess diamond, and it sells for $3,830.

0.96 carat, G-SI1, Ideal cut Princess diamond

This is a great diamond with some inclusions that are very difficult to be seen. At this level of magnification they can be just barely noticed. On your wife’s finger, or even in front of your eye at normal size, they are just about invisible. That makes this Princess cut diamond a great buy.

Today’s recommended diamond is the best small Round diamond for a budget of under $4000.

The diamond is this 0.80 carat Round diamond, with H color and VS2 clarity. The diamond is an Excellent cut Round diamond, and it sells for $3,890.

http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/H-VS2-Very%20Good-Cut-Round-Diamond-1472155.asp

0.80 carat, H-VS2, Excellent cut Round diamond

When looking for diamonds with the $4000 budget in mind (the same is true with any budget), one can find diamonds that are larger than this one, or diamonds that have better color, or diamonds that have better clarity. I think this diamond is the best diamond that, for a budget of $4000, is the right combination of clarity, color and carat.

Small diamonds, when I use that term, are diamonds that are smaller than 1 carat. Today’s recommended diamond is the best small Round diamond for a budget of $3000.

The diamond is this 0.70 carat Round diamond, with H color and VS2 clarity. The diamond is an Excellent cut Round diamond, and it sells for $3,070.

0.70 carat, H-VS2, Excellent cut Round diamond

This diamond is a beauty. My only debate was to select a slightly larger diamond by compromising on the diamond color up to I or J, or to select this diamond with better color but a bit smaller. I chose the smaller diamond despite the size being differential being more significant than the color differential (at this size) for a completely unrelated reason. I chose the smaller diamond with better color because this diamond was nicer than the other diamonds.

Small Round Diamond

I consider any diamond that is smaller than 1 carat to be in the category of a small diamond. It is just a name, and not even completely true, as diamond from about 0.75 carat to 0.99 carat are all nice sized diamond and not at all really small diamonds, most people consider 1 carat to be a significant cut-off point, so I categorize anything smaller than that as a “small diamond”. Just for categorization’s sake.

That makes today’s recommended diamond a small diamond. Today’s recommended diamond is the best small Round diamond for less than $2,500.

More For Your Money, and Easier To Budget

Small diamonds are great, because they are easier to budget, especially for a young couple on what might be a limited income. As well, because they are smaller, many of the flaws are covered up better and are less visible to the naked eye. That means you can get a nicer looking diamond for less money. Also, the higher colors have slightly lesser of an effect on the appearance of a small diamond, as there is less surface area exposed to the light. While a J rated diamond that is 1.5 carats, for example, might have a significantly yellowish tinge to it, a 0.75 carat diamond that is rated J will generally not appear quite as yellow. That, too, means that you can buy a diamond with a higher color rating and be proportionally less affected by it – thus paying less for more.

The recommended diamond is this 0.72 carat Round diamond, with J color and VS2 clarity. The diamond is an Excellent cut Round diamond, and it sells for $2,340.

0.72 carat, J-VS2, Excellent cut Round diamond

This diamond is a beautiful diamond that is very clean, and definitely eye clean, and the J color is not strong. This small Round diamond is a great buy, especially for a young couple on a limited budget. It is a great diamond at a great price.
