Best Oval Diamond For $3000 Budget
Posted by: | CommentsToday’s recommended diamond is going to be an Oval cut diamond for a $3000 budget.
The Oval diamond is a modified Round diamond. It is similar to the Round, but adds it’s own unique style. As well, it gives the appearance of being larger than a Round stone of similar size. The Oval cut diamond accentuates long, slender fingers.
Today’s recommended diamond is this 1.01 carat diamond, with I color and VS2 clarity. The diamond is a Premium cut Oval diamond, and it sells for $2,880.
The diamond shape of the Oval diamond is considered to be at it’s best when it has a length to width ratio of between 1.35:1 and 1.50:1. 1.5 is really the top end because if the length is greater than that proportionally it will generally cause a noticeable “bow-tie” effect.
The bow-tie effect is the result of the refraction of light, and at those
proportions because of the shape, a dark spot in the shape of a bow-tie will be noticeable in the middle of the diamond.
This diamond being recommended has the diamond color of I, which is really a bit higher than I prefer for Oval diamonds. However, the yellowish tinge is not particularly dominant, so it is still at a good diamond color point.
The diamond clarity on this diamond is rated at VS2 which is a good level. There are a couple of noticeable inclusions, though you would have to really eyeball the diamond to see them with the naked eye, which generally is not happening once the diamond is set in the ring. I spotted 2 inclusions that are very small but possibly strong enough to be spotted with the eye upon close inspection. The Oval diamond, because of the way it is cut, needs a better diamond clarity rating than a Round diamond, as it tends to expose the inclusions a bit more than the Round diamond does. VS2 and SI1 should really be considered the upper level of diamond clarity ratings for Oval, but someone on a tight budget could go to SI2 if he looked carefully for quality.
