The ratio on this diamond is a bit under preferred, making it a bit stouter, rather than longer, but the size of the diamond makes up for it and the shape, to me looks very nice.
The diamond is rated an SI1, but is very clean to the eye. The fluorescence is stronger than preferred, but fluorescence does not usually affect appearance.
Basically this is a beautiful stone despite some of its details..

Nov. 15: I am going to start concentrating now for a bit on Marquise diamonds. The Marquise is an elegant diamond, and is considered a fancy cut diamond.
The Marquise has special qualities, and it’s own unique issues to be careful about. The recommended ratio for a Marquise diamond is between 1.75:1 and 2.25:1.
Today’s diamond is a 1.04 carat diamond, with G color and SI1 clarity. The diamond is a Prmeium cut Marquise diamond, and it sells for $4370. The ratio on this diamond is 2.16:1.

Nov. 10: Today’s recommended diamond is a Round cut diamond.
I am going to do a comparison today of two diamonds I was considering recommending for today’s great value recommendation.
- A 2.09 carat diamond, with H color and SI1 clarity. The diamond is an Ideal cut Round diamond, and it sells for $19,450.
- A 2.11 carat diamond, with H color and VS2 clarity. The diamond is a Premium cut Round diamond, and it sells for $20,480.
Diamond #1 |
Diamond #2 |
Both of these diamonds are very nice diamonds and great buys.
Diamond #1 has the advantage in being Ideal cut (better cut proportions), a faceted girdle, and no fluorescence.
Diamond #2 is slightly larger, only a Premium cut, has a blue fluorescence, and a better clarity rating at VS2.
My vote goes to diamond #1. Here is why: The difference between the stones is about $1000. For $1000 extra with diamond #2, you will be getting an extra .02 carat, fluorescence which is not a big deal but is normally not preferred, and most importantly a VS2 clarity rating.
However, the 0.02 extra “points” in weight is basically infitesimal, so that benefit is not worth paying extra for. The fluorescence and the Premium cut should make the diamond a bit cheaper, which would normally be fine. The VS seems t be what you are paying extra for. However, if you look at the diamonds and pay attention to the clusters of inclusions, to me it looks like the SI1 diamond (diamond #1) is cleaner to the eye than Diamond #2 with the VS2 rating.
Diamond #2 is a great buy, but Diamond #1 is even better.
So, today’s recommended diamond is the 2.09 carat diamond, with H color and SI1 clarity. The diamond is an Ideal cut Round diamond, and it sells for $19,450.

Nov. 7: Today’s recommended diamond is a Round cut diamond.
The diamond is a 1.74 carat diamond, with F color and SI1 clarity. The diamond is an Ideal cut Round diamond, and it sells for $13,770.
This diamond is SI1, yet the only faw visible is one small crystal. For this size diamond, and for the quality it is, this is a great buy.

Unfortunately I don’t have a picture of the diamond, but you can see it and analyze it with the Virtual Loupe on the James Allen website. This diamond is rated SI1 clarity, and you can see in the certificate it has a few flaws. However, looking at the diamond itself, even in the spot with the concentration of inclusions, you only see one small mark. That makes this diamond a great buy. It is large, weighing in at 1.50 carats, and it is rated SI1, yet you only see one tiny mark.
Nov. 2: Today’s recommended diamond is a Round cut diamond.
The diamond is a 1.30 carat diamond, with a F color and SI1 clarity. The diamond is a Premium cut Round diamond, and it sells for $10,200.
This diamond has flaws internally that are commensurate with a clarity rating of SI1, but they can hardly be seen by the eye, and even only with difficulty under the loupe. That makes this a particularly good buy because you are saving money by buying the SI1 clarity level, yet you will not be able to even see the SI1 level flaws. To your eye, you are getting a better diamond than what you are paying for.
