March 30: Today’s recommended diamond is going to be another with great diamond color and diamond clarity.

Today’s recommended diamond is this 1.51 carat diamond, with I color and SI1 clarity. The diamond is an Ideal cut Round diamond, and it sells for $10,180.

For a diamond color rated as I, this diamond is very nice and colorless. As well, the diamond clarity of SI1 is also a great as it is practically eye clean despite the SI1 rating. Even after looking at the certificate and seeing where the inclusions are you can still see only a tiny amount of what there is.

March 29: Today’s recommended diamond is the best Round diamond for $9000.

The best Round diamond for $9000 is this 1.58 carat diamond, with J color and SI1 clarity. The diamond is an Ideal cut Round diamond, and it sells for $9,060.

This is another example of a diamond with a low diamond color rating, yet the yellowish diamond color you would expect is barely perceptible. It has a warm color to it, rather than the pure icey look of a pure colorless diamond, but it is not yellowish as it should be at this rating. The diamond color on this diamond, and the diamond clarity of SI1 that is also very eye clean for such a low rating, makes this diamond a great buy. It is rated lower, making it cheaper, yet you can hardly see the “flaws” that make it rated as such.

March 28: Today’s recommended diamond is the best Round diamond for $7500.

The best Round diamond for $7500 is this 1.21 carat diamond, with I color and VS2 clarity. The diamond is an Ideal cut Round diamond, and it sells for $7,510.

The diamond color for this diamond is very good quality for the I rating. The diamond color does not, in my opinion look like I level, and is a great buy at this rating. Because of the diamond color, this diamond gets the nod for today’s recommended diamond.

March 27: Back to some Round diamonds before moving on to another shape. Round is the bread and butter of the diamond industry, and it is the most desired shape, so it is always good to look at what is new and available in the Round diamond market.

The best Round diamond for $5000 is this 1.00 carat diamond, with I color and SI1 clarity. The diamond is a Premium cut Round diamond, and it sells for $4,760.

This is a very nice diamond at this price. The clarity is rated at SI1 but is extremely eye clean. Even knowing where the inclusions are, it is still difficult to see anything. As well, despite the high color fo I, the diamond still looks practically colorless.

Today’s selection was a bit of a tough choice. I was actually leaning towards a different diamond. It was a nice diamond, and a bit larger than this one. I decided against it because the proportions of the Table and Depth were not as good as this diamond, which is probably the cause for the tradeoff with the larger size.

The best Emerald cut diamond for $13k is this 2.02 carat diamond, with I color and VS1 clarity. The diamond is a Premium cut Emerald diamond, and it sells for $12,790.

I personally prefer the more rectangular Emerald diamonds, and this is a square, but the diamond is really beautiful.

It is not the extra 1 point in carat size above yesterday’s diamond that prices this diamond $1000 higher. It is the VS1 clarity level, rather than yesterday’s diamond that was rated at SI1.

March 7: It is time to move on to other diamonds. For the next series I am going to look at the Emerald diamond, at the low end of the color spectrum, in the I-J range.

Some of the main issues to be aware of when buying Emerald diamonds are that Emerald diamond have large and bold flashes of light, because of the long facets across the face of the stone. As well, the large open facets also create a problem, in that inclusions under the large facets are more visible than in diamonds of other shapes. Objectively, the Emerald diamond with the best shape falls in the length to width ratio of between 1.30:1 and 1.40:1.

For the first post on the best Emerald diamond, I am going to compare two similarly priced diamonds.

1. This 0.90 carat diamond, with I color and VS2 clarity. The diamond is an Ideal cut diamond, and it sells for $2,490.

2. This 0.93 carat diamond, with J color and VVS1 clarity. This diamond is an Ideal cut Emerald diamond and it sells for $2,410.

The main difference between these two diamonds is the clarity level. The carat size and the color level are pretty similar, but the clarity level is a big difference. The shape on each is the same. The proportions are fairly similar.

It happens to be that, based on the images of each of these diamonds, I think the diamond #2 looks like a much nicer diamond, despite the lower color level. Add to that the benefit of having a better clarity level for essentially the same price, and the decision of which diamond to recommend is a pretty simple conclusion.

Today’s recommended diamond is this 0.93 carat diamond, with J color and VVS1 clarity. This diamond is an Ideal cut Emerald diamond and it sells for $2,410.

March 3: Today’s recommended diamond will be the best Marquise diamond for less than $13k.

The best diamond for $13k is this 2.01 carat diamond, with H color and VS2 clarity. The diamond is a Premium cut Marquise diamond, and it sells for $12,960.

The ratio on this is measured at 1.77:1 (length to width ratio), which is right in the ideal range of the ratio, albeit it at the low end of the best range). However, personally, to me, this diamond looks a little bit short and stout. My personal preference would have this diamond slightly longer and thinner. Everrything else about this diamond is great though.
