Posted by: | CommentsHave we seen a sneak peak of the New York Giants Super Bowl Ring from Super Bowl 46?
While we all wait to see what the final design of the super bowl ring will be, how many diamonds, how much gold, what symbols and other parts of the bling will be included, one of the players from the New York Giants recently tweeted what he called a sneak preview, with a photo of a ring.
Linebacker Clint Sintim, who spent the season on injured reserve, tweeted the following photo of the ring calling it a sneak preview… After coming under criticism, he removed his tweet.
Here is the tweeted ring:
It looks nice, but the Giants say the final ring has not been decided upon and this is still just a design possibility. The final ring design will be announced by Tiffany’s on May 16th. We have to wait just a little bit longer..
Super Bowl Rings
Posted by: | CommentsThe New York Giants won Super Bowl XLIV (46) last night, and besides for the Lombardi trophy, along with the adoring masses and increased contracts, also receive Super Bowl Rings.
I have not yet seen a picture of this years Super Bowl Ring, but here are some interesting facts about the Super Bowl Rings..
- The NFL pays about $5,000 for each ring, and supplies the winning team with 150 rings. The team can buy more, and can make them more valuable, out of their own pockets.
- The team generally uses the 150 rings to distribute among the various players, coaches, trainers, and other assistants. Some might be saved for former players or for charity giveaways.
- The ring is made from white or yellow gold, and is generally covered in diamonds. It will usually include the team name and logo, along with the logo of the Super Bowl, the year and the words “World Champion”. The ring might also include images of the trophy or another image selected by the team. The final score might be on the ring as well.
- The Super Bowl Ring is usually covered in diamonds, with varying patterns. Often, larger diamonds will be used to represent how many times the team has won the Super Bowl, or other significant point the team wants symbolized. The larger diamonds will often be encircled by smaller diamonds as well. Rings have been known to bear more than 100 diamonds, with the total weight of the ring approaching 4 ounces!
- Super Bowl rings are generally values at about $20,000, though some older ones have been known to sell in the range of $50,000 with the top value of $70,000 being achieved in the sale of a ring from the Green Bay Packers victory in Super Bowl 1.
- Jostens, a jewelry designer, has designed 29 of the 45 Super Bowl rings to date.
- The largest Super Bowl Ring ever made was for William “Refrigerator” Perry of the Chicago Bears at the whopping size of 23 (rather than the average 10-12) from Super Bowl XX.
- The first Super Bowl Ring, from the Green Bay Packers Super Bowl win in Super Bowl 1 in 1967, bore 1 single diamond. The Patriots Super Bowl Ring from Super Bowl XXXIX was encrusted with 124 diamonds.
- Charles Haley is the player with the most Super Bowl rings as a player, with 5 rings total from his championship days with the San Francisco 49ers and the Dallas Cowboys. A number of players have 4 rings, including Joe Montana (one of my favorite players ever). Some people have more than this, but only as coaches or combined as coaches and players. the most rings held by anyone is 7 Super Bowl rings held by Neal Dahlen as both a player and a coach. Tom Brady was gunning for his fourth Super Bowl Ring last night.
